Mom's Encouraging Son To 'Look It Up' On Google Backfires Spectacularly After She Mishears His Question

We're all learning all kinds of things during this pandemic as our self-isolation period drags on week after week.

From how to cook our favorite foods to how to banish boredom.

But the ultimate pandemic learning curve has to be all the parents learning how to be their kids teachers, as schools remain closed all over the country—with varying results.

Homeschooling, it turns out, is not for the faint of heart, as one mom—and her son—both learned the hard way recently when she told him to look something up that... well, let's just say it wasn't school appropriate!

The mom in question posted her story to the TIFU section of Reddit (which stands for Today I Fuc*ed Up).

Uniqlohobo, as she calls herself on the site, is taking her new role as teacher very seriously: when her kids ask a basic question, she tells them to "look it up."

But that approach recently went seriously sideways.

Now before you get the wrong idea, it was an honest mistake!

Today my son (11)asked after reading a meme "mommy what's a threesome" " look it up"
Now in my defense I thought he said "tree swing"

But by the time she realized her mistake, the damage was done.

I walk I on him using my phone( stupidly with no parental locks) opened to images of threesomes.

Thankfully, his exposure was brief...

It was less than 5 minutes but my poor buddy. Hahahahaha.

But when it comes to porn, of course, five minutes is plenty of time to... um... learn a lot.

As evidenced by the questions her son asked afterward

Some questions
"you need two men to have a baby" "Why was it in her mouth" "Why was she wearing shoes" "What was that stuff " "Why was there hair on her part"
His dad explained A LOT! I took the younger kids for a walk during the Man to Man part. My husband won't tell me the things he asked. My son swore him to secrecy...

Naturally, Uniqlohobo's fellow Redditors had plenty to say about this one.

"That's how you were made son." --Mccague17
"And daddy's best friend was there, too!" --Tremor_Sense
"mummy, what's a threesome?" "well, it's when mummy and daddy and uncle Pete are loving each other very much" --wotmate

And some had... questions...

You were going to wait YEARS before you told your 11 year old about reproduction and sex? --sasharose1
I'm more concerned why you'd think he'd never heard of a tree swing until now. --snugglypatch

While others had words of comfort and encouragement for Uniqlohobo.

Good recovery there. Teachable moment. --a-base
11 years old is a good time to be honest. Better you teaching him than the rest of the world. --QuantumHam
11 is the age kids learn about that stuff he's fine. --OhKodor
Speaking from personal experience as a former 11 year old, that's definitely not too young for "the talk" so to speak. --dsmaxwell

Anyway, Uniqlohobo isn't the only one who learned something from all of this, and it led to a critical change to her household.

Annnnnnd. Everything has parental locks on it
