Mom Sparks Debate With Her Negative Reaction To Daughter's New Hair Color

TikToker Abby Cogan decided to film her mom's reaction to her new dye job after going from blond to dark red—and her mom couldn't hide her displeasure.

There's nothing quite like a mother's love...or her bluntly honest criticism.

Ready for a fresh start and a new look, TikToker Abby Cogan went to the hair salon, ready for a new cut, color, and style. She went for the viral Cherry Coco-Cola red that's currently going around with blunt ends and loose, wavy curls.

When Cogan arrived at her home, she unlocked the front door, was greeted by her fluffy Golden Doodle, and then called out for her mom. She followed her voice until Cogan reached a staircase, where her mother was sorting through items at the foot of the stairs on the lower floor.

Upon seeing her daughter, Cogan's mother immediately reacted:

"No! No no noooo. I hate it."

Cogan laughed nervously and asserted that she herself "loved" it.

But her mother was insistent.

"It's not you. It's just not you. You're so pretty blonde."

Then her mother changed tactics, seemingly hoping to inspire some regret in her daughter.

"You're pretty anyway. But as long as you like it..."
"But do you realize how hard it's going to be to go back to your natural blonde?"

Cogan insisted that she didn't want to be blonde again for a while, and her mother started to play the victim.

"I hate it. I'm sorry. What do you [want me to say]? You knew I wasn't going to like it."
"You knew it, and you're filming me?"
"What do you want me to say? I guess I'm glad you like it. It's just a lot for me to get used to."

Fellow TikTokers were heartbroken at the reaction that Cogan received from her mother.

Some saw their own mothers in the reaction and felt that Cogan's mom had pressed too hard to make this situation all about herself, what she likes, what she's used to, and even her own matching blondeness.

The most important thing to them, though, was that Cogan liked the look for herself, on her own head.

Just for curiosity's sake, Cogan also shared a side-by-side photo of herself, showing the different iterations of blonde she'd had over the years next to her new red hairdo.

While Cogan's mom may have not appreciated the change, TikTok insisted that it was the right move, and they argued that even if it hadn't been, it's still Cogan's hair and not her mother's.

While her mother is welcome to do whatever she wants with her own hair, she should understand that her daughter is welcome to do the same, and without all of the unnecessarily rude commentary.

Scott Bessent Blasted Over His Bonkers Suggestion For How To Bring Your Own Inflation Rate Down

Continuing to follow the example of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared on Meet the Press Sunday to blame Democratic President Joe Biden for the financial downturn caused by Trump's tariff fiasco, then lied repeatedly about the state of the economy.

Meet the Press host Kristen Welker played a clip of MAGA Republican Vice President JD Vance telling a conservative audience at a Breitbart News event that Americans owe the Trump administration "a little bit of patience"—apparently while they figure out what tariffs are and how they work since they're rolling back more of them to lower consumer prices despite claiming Trump's tariffs don't affect consumer prices.

Trump Is Now Using His Presidential Sway To Pressure Studio Into Making 'Rush Hour 4'—And, Huh?

President Trump has reportedly pressured Paramount head Larry Ellison to make another sequel to Rush Hour, his favorite buddy-cop movie, as the company looks to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.
