Some Americans may remember Air Force veteran MJ Hegar's viral campaign ad, Doors, from her run to represent Texas's 31st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Hegar's campaign was ultimately unsuccessful, but she hasn't given up and she certainly isn't quieting down.

Earlier this month, Hegar won the Democratic primary to take on Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn in the state's election this November.

Responding to her win, Cornyn's campaign likened Hegar to a Hollywood elite, saying in a recent ad:

"MJ's part of Hollywood, from her props to her producers...She's Elizabeth Warren on a motorcycle."

But in an interview with Dallas Morning News, Hegar didn't hold back in responding to the Cornyn campaign.

Hegar said:

"John Cornyn has shown time and again that he is a bootlicker who's just going to prop up his party leaders and do as he's told, and Texans can abide a lot of thing, but they cannot abide a spineless lapdog."

In an interview cited by the same outlet, Hegar said that Cornyn was

"A lackey and a spineless bootlicker"

The unfiltered words signal that Hegar's head is no longer in primary mode, it's fully focused on the uphill battle she has to defeat Cornyn in a solid Red state.

She isn't backing down from her strong stance.

Since the 2018 midterms—in which former Democratic Presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke narrowly lost to the universally disliked incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz—Texas has signaled a slow but steady trend toward blue. Even recent Fox News polls show Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden with a small lead over President Donald Trump, who won the state by nine points in 2016.

People agreed with Hegar's assessment of Cornyn.

And the stance doesn't appear to have lost her any support.

Election Day in the United States is on November 3rd.
