Someone must have given the writers over at Merriam-Webster a raise because they have been killing it lately with their snark.
The Twitter account for Merriam-Webster Dictionary is gaining a reputation for not backing down over controversial topics and this week was no different. After President Donald Trump declared in an interview with CBS' Face The Nation:
I think the European Union is a foe. What they do to us in trade. Now you wouldn't think of the European Union, but they're a foe.
Merriam-Webster took to Twitter to clarify the meaning of "foe" while throwing a perfect amount of shade.
Who ever thought a dictionary would gain so many followers? People love the trolling (and the knowledge.)
We haven't seen people this excited about a word since "covfefe."
