Meghan McCain, co-host of ABC's The View, has taken to multiple platforms to apologize for defending former President Trump's racist rhetoric after being called out by John Oliver.
After the mass shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, which resulted in the deaths of six Asian-American women, McCain posted "Stop Asian Hate" on Twitter alongside several broken-heart emojis.
While McCain's tweet was nice, it wasn't so long ago that she was defending President Trump calling the virus the "China Virus" or, worse, the "Kung Flu."
In a segment this past Sunday, March 21, HBO host John Oliver called McCain out on her previous statements, saying that they gave Asian-American hatred room to grow.

Following Oliver's criticism, McCain returned to Twitter to offer a lengthier apology for her words.

Twitter, where many have long had a beef with Meghan McCain, was glad to see her being called out by Oliver.
Many online felt McCain's apology was too late and, perhaps, too motivated by public relations.
Others felt McCain should get the chance to learn from her mistakes and grow.
Maybe next time, when a minority community warns that someone's actions could lead to violence, McCain will take them a little more seriously.
