The View co-host Meghan McCain has spent the past 24 hours encountering a deluge of mocking tweets after she claimed that she hasn't heard any hosts on Fox News tell people not to get the vaccine.
Let's set the record straight. Fox News hosts have regularly advised viewers against receiving the vaccine.
For some hard numbers on that, according to the Huffington Post, who cited a Media Matters study, "Fox has undermined vaccination efforts in nearly 60% of all vaccination segments in a 2-week period."
Despite those facts, McCain chose to muddy the waters while she and her co-hosts discussed a recent Fox and Friends segment during which Fox News anchor Steve Doocy explained that, these days, the virus is killing unvaccinated people in particular.
For McCain, Doocy's pro-vaccine talk was apparently enough to absolve the many other Fox hosts who have derided the shot.
"Not everybody on Fox News is, you know, saying don't get the vaccine. I actually haven't heard anyone say that, but maybe I'm just misinformed."

The View co-host Sunny Hostin quickly explained, in detail, that McCain was indeed "misinformed."
Sunny Hostin essentially tells Meghan McCain that, yes, she is "misinformed" on Fox's anti-vax rhetoric, bringing up Media Matters' study showing 60% of recent Fox News vaccine segments have undermined and downplayed immunization efforts.\n\nhttps://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox-has-undermined-vaccination-efforts-nearly-60-all-vaccination-segments-2-week-period\u00a0\u2026pic.twitter.com/9xsQU2GGbq— Justin Baragona (@Justin Baragona) 1626708352
And the criticism went far beyond the table on The View.
When McCain's comments appeared on Twitter, the internet came out flying with criticisms.

Yes, Meghan, you are misinformed. Fox, Doocy, Kilmeade, and the rest all made fun of and discouraged the covid vax over and over and over again.\nDoocy, after a year and a half, said today, get the vax.\nToo little, too late!— Agolf Twitler Slayer (@Agolf Twitler Slayer) 1626717984
It's a good time to mention the vaccine is free as well as safe and effective, as countless medical professionals and studies have repeatedly avowed.
