During a recent episode of The View, Meghan McCain criticized President Joe Biden's support for the protection of reproductive rights, and accused him of "doing grave spiritual harm to himself and harm to this country."
McCain's comments came in response to several Catholic bishops attempting to bar Catholic politicians like Biden who support reproductive rights from receiving Communion.
McCain even brought out one of the classic anti-choice arguments, likening Biden's stance to being okay with murder if someone else is the one doing it. The President has stated just because he is personally opposed to abortion does not mean he will hold others to his own personal beliefs.
McCain, who isn't even Catholic, seemingly couldn't understand why someone wouldn't want to force others to follow their religious beliefs.
"I'm personally opposed to murder, but if you want to murder a little bit, it's fine because it's not my problem."
She also falsely claimed Biden was committing a cardinal sin by supporting others' rights to make their own reproductive decisions.

Few Twitter users seemed to support McCain's take.
Many were vocally critical.
Few Catholic politicians want to outlaw divorce or birth control or atheism. But for some reason this one thing - which just happens to align with Republican politics - is the one religious rule that must be codified into law— takethepith (@takethepith) 1624290216
Someone please inform Ms. McCain that there are, according to the US Constitution, no "religious tests" for holding elected office in America. Please also let her know that nothing in the Constitution discusses spiritual harm to America and/or reconciliation with one's Creator.— Mary Buggie-Hunt 🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈 (@Mary Buggie-Hunt 🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈) 1624290779
So don't get an abortion if your belief prohibits that.

The government does not have a say over people's personal, private health and life decisions.— helchose🇺🇸 (@helchose🇺🇸) 1624291574

Breaking News for Meghan: The Hyde Amendment was meant to prevent women without means from getting an abortion, b/c they are poor, otherwise all women with means, with money and connections and wealth will continue to get abortion on demand.— Party of Fear (@Party of Fear) 1624301591
Joe Biden’s “politics” is to not force his personal beliefs on the rest of us, which is a position I wish more elected officials held.— Nicole David 💛🐝 (@Nicole David 💛🐝) 1624292381

It’s also interesting how Meghan McCain says “I don’t want to proselytize” and then goes on to proselytize. Lol.https://twitter.com/justinbaragona/status/1406997774789402624 …— American Humanist Association (@American Humanist Association) 1624299796
McCain also failed to mention the bishops who are currently criticizing Biden for his stance on reproductive rights said absolutely nothing about other Catholic politicians bringing about policy changes that violate tenets of church doctrine.
For example, former Attorney General William Barr brought back the death penalty for federal crimes.
Capital punishment is also against church doctrine.
