McConaughey posted a photo of his swollen eye on X and fans quickly chimed in to wish him well and ask what happened.

Actor Matthew McConaughey shocked fans with a wince-inducing selfie that showed him with an eyelid swollen shut after getting stung by a bee.

Though it's unclear where the Dallas Buyers Club actor got stung, it was presumed his unfortunate brush with nature happened in Texas, where he and his family have been living since leaving Los Angeles in 2014.

On Wednesday, McConaughey posted the photo of him on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote simply:

"Bee swell."

But fans were anything but swell after they collectively gasped at the painful photo.

Unable to see their idol suffering, one fan fixed him up real good.

For some, the incident hit close to home and they commiserated with the actor.

Was he method acting?

Fans should be looking forward to seeing a fully recovered McConaughey in the upcoming rural Oklahoma crime thriller The Rivals of Amziah King, alongside Kurt Russell and Riverdale actor Cole Sprouse.

McConaughey will also star in The Lost Bus, directed by Paul Greengrass and written by Brad Ingelsby.

The drama film, which also stars America Ferrera, is based on author Lizzie Johnson's 2021 book Paradise: One Town's Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire centering on the 2018 Camp Fire which became the deadliest fire in California history.

Heal quickly, Matthew!

Kansas Republican Senator Roger Marshall chastised Americans for complaining about high gas prices and insisted they should consider that their "national security is even more important" than whatever blows are being dealt to their wallets at the gas pump.

Consumer prices are up 3.3% compared to a year ago, largely fueled by a surge in energy costs. The energy index jumped 10.9% in a single month as oil and gas prices climbed sharply. Amid the Iran war and the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, oil has risen back to around $100 a barrel, pushing gasoline prices up by a record 25%.
