Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey is in hot water with Olympics fans after criticizing gymnasts Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles.
Humphrey wasn't feeling the love when Biles and Chiles recently gave Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade her props after her surprise gold win at the Paris Olympics.
As Andrade took her gold, Biles and Chiles, who won silver and bronze respectively, bowed down to their colleague in celebration—a move Humphrey tweeted that he found "literally disgusting" for some reason.
Andrade's big win really was a moment for celebration.
The gymnast has suffered three ACL tears—a frequently traumatic injury that has ruined many careers and often requires major surgery to repair—in recent years but has managed to go on to win six Olympic medals, including two golds.
Fittingly, Biles and Chiles gave Andrade her props for not just making it to the Olympics in the first place but snagging a gold medal away from the most decorated gymnast in history.
Speaking to TODAY, Biles said that for her and Chiles, winning isn't even the most important thing.
“I think it’s all about sportsmanship, and we don’t care whether we win or lose."
"We’re always going to keep a good face and support our competitors because they’ve worked just as hard as we have for that moment."
Humphrey apparently does not share their sense of sportsmanship, given that this moment of respect sent him into a tizzy for whatever reason.
And as befits his ridiculous tweet, Humphrey was quickly lambasted on X by other users who thought his post was way out of line.
Humphrey was put so firmly in place that even he had to admit he was "getting cooked right now" on X. Hopefully he's learned his lesson!
