QAnon Rep Gets Brutal Reminder After Proposing Congressional Gold Medal for Rittenhouse

Far-right Congresswoman and prominent conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has repeatedly endorsed violence, before and after her ascent to the House of Representatives in 2020.

Greene's colleagues stripped her of her committee assignments in her first year after resurfaced social media posts found she expressed support not only for deranged conspiracy theories, but for the execution of prominent Democratic lawmakers like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

But that reprimand wasn't enough to discourage Greene. She continues to endorse political violence, from suggesting her constituents shoot volunteers conveying vaccine information, to encouraging her followers purchase AR-15s. She's defended Capitol insurrectionists who beat police officers. She's repeatedly accosted her colleagues on the House floor, forcing one Congresswoman—Cori Bush of Missouri—to change offices to avoid further harassment.

And this week, Greene sponsored legislation to award a Congressional Gold Medal to Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenage vigilante who shot three people with an AR-15. Rittenhouse drove from Illinois to Wisconsin to observe unrest in Kenosha after the police shooting of Jacob Blake. The teenager was acquitted on all charges this week after arguing that he shot the victims in self-defense.

Greene said Rittenhouse "protected the city of Kenosha" by killing two of its residents—the only two fatalities in that period of unrest.

The bill comes just five months after Greene was one of 21 Republicans to vote against awarding a Congressional Gold Medal to officers who faced beatings and racial slurs while protecting lawmakers and the Capitol from insurrectionists on January 6.

People haven't forgotten.

Greene's latest stunt has the internet reeling.

As of now, there are no cosponsors for Greene's bill.
