Morris, 34, first gained recognition with her country hit My Church around eight years ago, blending country with pop and R&B elements, and she has released three albums since her breakthrough.

In 2018, she married fellow country singer Ryan Hurd. They divorced earlier this year and share custody of their four-year-old son, Hayes.

This past February, the Grammy winner spoke to Us Weekly about focusing on herself after her decade-long relationship with Hurd, emphasizing the importance of reclaiming her singlehood and nurturing her relationship with herself.

She said:

“I feel like for so long, just being an artist and taking care of a lot of people on the road, you get so used to being the boss. I sort of lost sight of truly taking care of myself."

Folks thanked her for being an inspiration.

Before her announcement, Morris was an active advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. She performed at a benefit show in Nashville in March 2023, protesting Tennessee’s ban on drag in public spaces. During the event, she shared her son's fascination with drag queens and criticized the culture war against drag performers.

In addition to welcoming her, one commenter thanked her for her ongoing support.

Morris is currently on her RSVP Redux tour, which is taking her to smaller venues around the country.
