It's unfortunately not news to anyone that working wages in the United States often don't meet a person's life needs.
People who can't afford to pay their bills often find themselves working more than one job or living creatively.
But Tiktokker "Simon" of @calm.simon took "living creatively" to the next level in what he called a home-from-work situation.
In his first of a series of home-from-work videos, Simon explained.
You can watch the video that started it all here:
@calm.simon Check out my new apt
Simon decided if he wasn't going to be paid enough to afford rent, he'd move into his cubicle at work.
The Tiktokker shared a series of videos about the living situation...
@calm.simon Reply to @bretlebo nothing exciting lol just livin
@calm.simon Reply to @whooshotyah I'm dumb but not that dumb lol #homingfromwork
@calm.simon Reply to @jessymahan i mean no one said I couldn’t 🤷🏾♂️👽
Fellow TikTokkers were incredibly invested and supportive.
There was a move-out scare, but it turned out, that was only for maintenance purposes.
@calm.simon Still day 3...
But then he got called out by the company.
@calm.simon (1) who snitched (2) what should I do 30m to decide #homingfromwork
Fellow Tiktokkers rooted for his chances to stay in his "cubicle apartment."
But no amount of fans could stop the eviction.
Simon has not shared yet if the company only evicted him, or if this eviction was paired with a swift firing. Either way, Simon's final video in this series featured him packing and being escorted from the building.

To say that was a rollercoaster of emotions and events would be an understatement.
While we're all upset that this home-from-work setup didn't work out for Simon, we're crossing our fingers for his future independent romper business, not to mention the conversation about livable wages that this saga hopefully inspired.
