Los Angeles-based comedian Madi Hart, known as @madihart_soccer on TikTok and Instagram, found herself in the spotlight after Fox News featured her satirical TikTok in a segment on "Jesse Watters Primetime."
The original TikTok, where Hart humorously claimed that "the feminism left her body" after a date, was misinterpreted by some conservatives, leading to a Fox News feature.
In the TikTok, Hart humorously recounted a date with a "guy's guy" who paid for everything, playfully suggesting a departure from liberal circles:
“It sort of activated something feral in me, I’m not going to lie. ... It might be time for me to get away from all these, you know, liberal snowflakes.”

@madihart_soccer IM KIDDING!!! also i checked his politics before hooking up with him dont worry.. #dating #storytime #single
While viewers understood the joke, some conservatives took it seriously, leading to coverage on right-wing platforms.
Hart's follow-up TikTok revealed that conservative commentator Matt Walsh discussed her video on his podcast, and she highlighted right-wing think pieces with headlines like "Feminist Discovers That the Patriarchy Is Actually Pretty Great." Unbeknownst to her, the story made its way onto Fox News, catching the attention of her estranged father, who expressed pride.
In the Fox News segment, host Jesse Watters featured Hart's TikTok, discussing the concept of men paying for dates. At one point, his guest, a "dating connoisseur” named Julia Rose, said viewers could see Hart's "feminism leaving her body like an exorcism."

Hart, amused by the situation, published a follow-up video in which she questioned why her satirical TikTok had become national news. Notably, Fox News did not seek permission from Hart to use her content in the segment.
She said:
“He’s analyzing my video and he’s like, ‘yeah, she’s willing to give up feminism when she gets her drinks paid for, but does she have the fortitude to give up feminism and cook and clean for her man and get in the kitchen?" ...
“Everybody didn’t realize that obviously I was kidding. Obviously, feminism didn’t actually leave my body… Unless you want to buy me a drink. No… Stop, I’m kidding!”
“Everybody all day on Republican Twitter is debating this video of mine. None of them really realized that I’m kidding."

@madihart_soccer Fox News is so UNSERIOUS 😭 #storytime #grwm #single #situationship #foxnews #bisexual #comingout #relationshipstorytime
While the experience brought humor for Hart, there was a serious aspect as well. Hart mentioned in her follow-up video that she inadvertently came out as bisexual to her "entire extended family," who saw the clip on Fox News:
“In my TikTok I say that I’m bisexual, and most of my extended family did not know that I was bisexual. They all saw the clip because they all watch Fox News every night. So that is also how I came out to my entire extended family, via Fox News.”
Hart's followers were quick to mock Fox News for not getting the joke.

Watters has previously dedicated coverage to attacking feminism.
In November 2022, he was criticized after he absurdly demanded that single women "get married" so they stop voting for Democrats.
Watters' remark came as Fox News hosts collectively reeled over midterm election results, which did not result in the "red wave" Republican legislators and pollsters had predicted.
A visibly annoyed Watters blamed single women and voters under the age of 40 for the election results, suggesting that these consequences could be avoided if single women get married and “settle down” because they have for the time being been "captured" by Democrats.
