Lindsay Lohan Just Confirmed A 'Freaky Friday' Sequel Is Happening—And Fans Are Freaking Out

The actor confirmed on 'Andy Cohen Live' that a sequel to the beloved Disney film is in the works, and that she and costar Jamie Lee Curtis are 'both excited.'

Lindsay Lohan officially confirmed that Freaky Friday is getting a sequel, and the internet can barely handle it.

The 2003 Disney film featuring Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as mother and daughter who somehow swap bodies and search for a way to undo it saw great results, raking in more than $160 million at the box office worldwide.

While several versions of Freaky Friday have been made (1976 with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris, and 1996 with Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffmann), Lohan and Curtis' version has been the most successful, and there has yet to be a sequel.

But that's all about to change.

On Monday, Lohan shared on Sirius XM's Andy Cohen Live that the masses are finally getting what they've been begging for in the two decades since the movie's 2003 release.

When the host asked Lohan if the rumor was true, she simply responded:

"It is."
“I don’t want to say too much. And we’re both excited.”

She then added:

“I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”

Of course, chatter of a sequel has been circulating for quite some time.

While celebrating the movie's 20th anniversary last year, Curtis more than hinted at wanting to see it through, telling The New York Times:

“As I went around the world with ‘Halloween Ends,’ people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday.'"
“Something really touched a chord...I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”

Lohan added that it would only be made if it was "something that people would absolutely adore."

Curtis heightened speculation of a second film when she posted a photo of herself with Lohan last year, writing in the caption:

"Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it's Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!"

Lohan also confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday that the sequel is happening, telling the outlet she is "excited to work with" Curtis again.

“I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this."

People on social media shared their excitement over the reunion news.

While Lohan did disclose that the sequel is "in the process" of being made, she couldn't give many more details, including when filming will begin.

But the confirmation is enough for us!
