Attorney Lin Wood isn't an official lawyer for President Donald Trump's campaign, yet he and fellow conservative lawyer Sidney Powell have been some of the most visible faces of the quixotic effort to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election—which saw Trump defeated by President-elect Joe Biden—through litigation.

Wood's efforts have largely targeted the state of Georgia, which went blue for the first time since 1992 this year. He's been a vocal critic of Georgia Republican officials, especially Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, whom Wood has falsely accused of certifying a fraudulent election, though Georgia counted its presidential ballots three times with the same result: a Biden victory.

In a move that may put Republicans' chances of maintaining Senate control at risk, Wood encouraged Georgia Republicans not to vote in the state's two crucial Senate runoffs coming up next month, saying that elections in Georgia can't be trusted.

Now, Wood is escalating his smears against Kemp and Raffensperger even further—and he's doing so with the President's apparent support.

Wood called for their imprisonment in a bizarre tweet.

The President—who's frequently targeted Kemp and Raffensperger on Twitter—retweeted Wood's post, which said the two would be going to prison.

With electoral votes already cast and Trump's means of litigation nearly exhausted, people noted the growing extremism surrounding the President's lies about voter fraud and the 2020 election results.

Twitter users pushed back against Wood's conspiratorial ramblings.

President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be inaugurated on January 20th.
