Throughout the madness that was 2020, Saturday Night Live (SNL) comedian Leslie Jones provided much-needed comic relief and left the internet in stitches with clips of her running commentary on top news segments.

Her popularity surged during coverage of the 2020 presidential election when she gushed over MSNBC host Steve Kornacki breaking down election results.

In her most recent clip, Jones had choice words for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell – who visibly weeped on December 2 during a tribute for retiring Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander.

His emotional display was particularly worth noting given his absence of empathy on camera for the thousands of victims who died from the virus responsible for the global health crisis.

Jones' take on McConnell's tears was pretty much what many lacked the audacity to articulate but inwardly agreed with.

"Mitch McConnell crying is like the devil weeping over not being able to kill 50 more people, f'k that MF'er," said Jones.

Warning: explicit language

She continued lambasting the senior Senator from Kentucky for struggling to maintain composure on the Senate floor over a departing colleague and not showing the same emotion for the nearly 300,000 people in the United States who have died during the pandemic.

Jones said of McConnell's sobbing:

"That's not tears. That's god**m acid fluid!"

Twitter sang their praises for the passionate comedian who has had enough B.S. and is not afraid to call things as she sees them.

Here are some other highlights from the year that was from the perspective of the one and only, Miss Jones.

Colin Jost and Michael Che definitely give us the chuckles on SNL's Weekend Update segment, but Leslie Jones' 2020 news commentary makes us hurl our shoe at the screen.

And for that, we are grateful.
