SpringHill Entertainment has announced that Space Jam 2 will become a reality.

The sequel to the 90's hit film staring NBA legend Michael Jordan is getting a a sequel staring another legend: LeBron James. Bugs Bunny is slated to reprise his role as Bugs Bunny from the original. Terence Nance will direct and Black Panther's Ryan Coogler will be a producer.

James spoke to the The Hollywood Reporter saying:

The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. t's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.

The original film grew out of a commercial Nike ran during the Super Bowl in 1992.

The announcement was published on Instagram.

Some folks are excited.

Others, not so much.

Let the debates begin!

Filming will begin in 2019 during the NBA off-season.
