Comedian Kelsey Cook was lauded for her handling of a female heckler who had a major crush on Cook's boyfriend.
A video of the crowdwork interaction on Cook's TikTok page went viral, with over 12 million views.
Cook is a co-host of the Self-Helpless podcast and is currently headlining shows in 40 cities with her The Nice Try Tour.
At the start of the viral clip, she shared with the audience that her boyfriend was also a comedian.
Since March 2023, Cook has been dating comedian Chad Daniels, a divorced dad who is known for his "dark view" of domestic life brand of comedy and has had albums top the Billboard Comedy charts three times.
After she mentioned she was dating a comedian, Cook responded to a woman in the audience who seemed to be very familiar with her boyfriend.
Cook asked:
"Is he your favorite comedian?"
The woman nodded and revealed that she has seen Daniels perform "eight times," to which Cook responded:
"That is so f'kin' rude."
The quip elicited laughter from the crowd as the woman said of Daniels, "He's so funny!"
Cook snidely confirmed:
"I know!"
"I moved to Minnesota, he's so funny. B*tch I know better than anybody!"
As Cook resumed her routine, the woman interrupted with more praise for her boyfriend, saying:
"He's also cute."
When Cook started to agree, she was cut off again by her boyfriend's admirer:
"He's hot!"
"I think he's so funny."
Cook took a moment and let the audience in on her current thought process.
"Thank you," she told the woman and added:
"This is interesting, I've never had somebody at my show make it so clear they wanna f'k my boyfriend."
Audience members were eating it up and howling.
The woman told Cook, "It's all good," which prompted Cook to nod and jokingly remove her earring in case of a physical smackdown.
Here is the clip, shared by X (formerly Twitter) user @SomaKazima.
But the interaction didn't end there.
Cook turned to the person sitting next to the heckler, presumably her husband or boyfriend, and asked him how he felt about her obsession with Cook's boyfriend.
Although the man's response can't be heard in the clip, Cook observed:
"You've resorted to sign language."
The man joked:
"I think he has a restraining order against her."
When Cook asked the heckler if she had been blocked by her boyfriend on social media, she revealed:
"No, he responds!"
Cook then retrieved her phone and pretended to call her man to have a little discussion.
She then laughed along with the crowd and told them, "My boyfriend's name is Chad," and addressed the heckler with:
"As you have written on your notebook 500 times."
The clip was captioned with:
"The problem with dating your favorite comedian is that he’s other people’s favorite too."
Social media users were impressed with Cook's off-the-cuff remarks in the situation.
Fans wondered what would've happened under different circumstances.
