The journalist called out her former 'Today' co-anchor's remarks after she took time off from the show following the birth of her first child.

Today alum Katie Couric called out Bryant Gumbel for giving her "sh*t" when she took maternity leave following the birth of her first child.

While appearing on an episode of Bill Maher's Club Random podcast on Sunday, the journalist recalled her former co-anchor exuding his "sexist attitude" when she took about a month of maternity leave from the show.

Host Maher described Gumbel as a "guy's guy," to which Couric wholeheartedly agreed.

"He is a guy's guy."
"He is a guy's guy, you got that right. He is."

She certainly couldn't deny his talent, though.

"He was prickly but I mean, what a talent."
"He's such a seamless broadcaster, eloquent."
"When that countdown would happen, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, he would just hit it perfect."

Maher went on to share that he and Gumbel haven't been in contact as much lately, likely due to some differences in politics.

While Couric said Gumbel probably wasn't "mad" at Maher, she did recount the time Gumbel was upset with her during her maternity leave.

"He got mad at me because I was doing something on maternity leave."
"And he was giving me endless sh*t for taking like a month or two off."
"I was having my first baby."

Maher nodded:

"Yeah, I could see that."

Couric then continued:

"He was like, 'Why don't you just drop it in the field and come back to work right away or something?'"
"It was really..."

When the host said he thought Gumbel was most likely joking, Couric replied:

"No, he was kidding."
"He was goofing on me but giving me a lot of sh*t, but it was emblematic of an incredibly sexist attitude."

Though Couric did mention that Gumbel delivered his jabs in a joking manner, many viewers of the podcast weren't surprised by his "goofing" behavior laced with sexism.

Couric is mom to daughters Ellie, 32, and Carrie, 28, whom she shares with late husband Jay Monahan.

And just last month, she became a grandmother.

She took to Instagram to share the exciting news.

"John Albert Dobrosky was born on his due date, Saturday, March 23rd at 8:23 am, just shy of seven pounds."
"He will be called Jay in honor of his maternal grandfather. Albert is after Mark’s paternal grandfather."
"Mom and Dad (Ellie and Mark) are over the moon 🌕 (it was a full moon) I am thrilled to have my first grandchild, Carrie can’t wait to be a cool Aunt and Molner is enjoying handing out cigars."
"We feel so blessed. 💙🥰🍼👶🏻💙 I wrote about the special day in Wake-Up Call, so click the link in my bio to read it! ❤️"

Congrats to the happy family!
