Kate Hudson brought tears to Kurt Russell's eyes after he saw a throwback photo of them that she posted on social media to celebrate Father's Day.

Hudson was raised by their mother, Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn, and Russell since she is estranged from their biological father, musician Bill Hudson.

The sweet photo Kate Hudson posted was of her and Russell cuddling in bed with the caption:

“Fun, adventurous, passionate, determined, honest, devoted, amazing father and the best head of hair in Los Angeles.”
“Lucky us! Love you Pa! Happy Fathers Day.”

When Hawn showed Russell their daughter's Father's Day message, since he is not on social media, Hawn relayed his heartfelt message which can be seen on the @commentsbycelebs Instagram account.

“Honey I showed this to daddy. Here’s his message…” Hawn wrote.

The following is Russell's response to Hudson.

“Birdie, mommy just showed me this picture, this perfect Father’s Day present. I’ve never seen it before. Wow..it’s a killer.”
“Lotta water under the bridge…it’s kinda hard to see it though cause all the water seems to somehow have found its way into my eyes…thanks for making me the luckiest father in the world sweetheart. I love you, Pa."

One Instagrammer pointed out that–on a basic human level–celebrities are not that different from us.

During Hawn's marriage to Bill Hudson, which lasted from 1976 to 1982, they had Kate and her brother, actor Oliver Hudson.

However, the siblings consider Russell to be their father.

After Hawn's divorce from Bill Hudson was finalized in March 1982, Hawn and Russell started their relationship on Valentine's Day in 1983.

They have a son, Wyatt Hawn Russell, who is a former hockey player and actor who starred as the new, dark Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Hudson additionally celebrated Father's Day by posting a photo of her fiancé Danny Fujikawa and their 3-year-old daughter Rani.

Like her parents, she has a blended family of her own.

She shares her 18-year-old son Ryder with her ex-husband, musician Chris Robinson, and 10-year-old son Bingham with her ex-fiancé Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.
