Justin Bieber's estranged father just bashed Pride month with a homophobic message for the LGBTQ+ community.
Jeremy Bieber tweeted:
"Don't forget to thank a straight person this month for your existence."
In 1994, Jeremy was 18 when his then-girlfriend Pattie Mallette–who was 17 at the time–gave birth to Justin.
The couple never married and they split after Justin was born. Justin was raised by Mallette's mother and stepfather.
The singer remains in contact with his father, Jeremy.
In another tweet at the beginning of the month, Jeremy Bieber doubled down on his take on family values with the following message:
"We need to celebrate families. U know the reason we’re all here!"
"The things this generation glorifies is unbelievable!"
“We need to celebrate families. U know the reason we’re all here! The things this generation glorifies is unbelievable!”— Jeremy Bieber (@Jeremy Bieber) 1685961592
Many social media users thought this was rich given Jeremy's unreliable history as a family man.
They also commented on his opportunism, coming back into his successful son's life when it was convenient for him.
“@JeremyBieber says the man who abandoned his child and only came back bc he became famous.. that’s how you celebrate family?”— Jeremy Bieber (@Jeremy Bieber) 1685961592
“@JeremyBieber Ejaculating into a woman doesn’t make you a family man. #whatisyourglory”— Jeremy Bieber (@Jeremy Bieber) 1685961592
“@JeremyBieber what do u know about family? u literally abandoned ur own son then popped in once he became famous so u can use him for money. ur a deadbeat “father” bffr & do everyone a favor and deactivate and keep the lgbtq+ community out ur mouth ”— Jeremy Bieber (@Jeremy Bieber) 1686153517

Users continued reminding him that he got it all wrong about expressing gratitude to straight people.
“@ThePopTingz @JeremyBieber Ummm, no. That’s what Mother’s Day and Father’s Day is for.”— Pop Tingz (@Pop Tingz) 1686144950
“@ThePopTingz @JeremyBieber Not this flop nepo daddy”— Pop Tingz (@Pop Tingz) 1686144950
“@PinkyCrystals @ThePopTingz @JeremyBieber @ThePopTingz Well, Jeremy, I don't think the LGBTQ+ community needs your reminder to thank straight people for their existence because we are too busy being grateful for our own strength and resilience in the face of bigotry and hate. But thanks for the concern!”— Pop Tingz (@Pop Tingz) 1686144950
“@youngambitionph Hey Jeremy, thanks for reminding us that condescending homophobia is still alive and well. Keep up the great work. #notimpressed”— Pop Tingz (@Pop Tingz) 1686144950
“@givenchygrande3 @ThePopTingz @JeremyBieber @ThePopTingz Oh, Jeremy Bieber giving expert advice on being LGBTQ+ during pride month. Thanks but no thanks, we've got this covered.”— Pop Tingz (@Pop Tingz) 1686144950
Bieber has been candid about his turbulent relationship with his dad.
In a November 2015 Billboard interview, the "Peaches" singer said that his father was “not in a place where he could raise a kid."
"He was immature. He left for like a year when I was about 4, went to British Columbia, came back on Father’s Day."
"I remember my mom said, ‘If you’re going to be here, you have to be here.’"
"There’s a misconception that he’s this deadbeat dad, but he has been in my life since. I was with him on weekends and Wednesdays.”
In a 2017 Instagram post, Justin commented on his evolving relationship with his father in an emotional tribute to him.
He wrote:
"I️ love continuing to get to know my father."
"I️ love working through hard things to get to the good things... relationships are worth fighting for especially with family!!"
"Love you forever and always daddy!"
Jeremy Bieber may have the love and respect of his son, but he failed to understand the true meaning of Pride.
Pride is the celebration of LGBTQ+ people for their continued fight for equality and acceptance.
It also commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City where a series of liberation protests occurred in the month of June.
