McHale was asked by 'People' magazine to respond to Chase's comments about not enjoying his time on the sitcom—and he didn't mince words.

It's no secret that Chevy Chase's time on Community wasn't a wonderful experience for many involved and that several interactions between him and other cast members were uncomfortable and toxic...to put it mildly.

Heck, according to PEOPLE, Joel McHale even talked about the "tension between the two and the often-uncomfortable things Chase allegedly said on set, including racist terms and jokes about sexual assault" in his 2016 memoir, Thanks for the Money.

So when McHale was asked about some of Chase's snarky remarks about the sitcom, it's no surprise he didn't hold back in his response.

Chase appeared on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast last month during which he continued to add fuel to the fire, telling the host:

“Everybody had their bits, and I thought they were all good. It just wasn’t hard-hitting enough for me.”
“I didn’t mind the character. I just felt that it was…I felt happier being alone."
"I just didn’t want to be surrounded by that table, every day, with those people. It was too much.”

When asked by PEOPLE about Chase's remarks, McHale was unfazed yet unapologetic in his response.

“He stopped hurting my feelings in 2009."

He continued:

“I was like, ‘Hey, no one was keeping you there.’ I mean, we weren’t sentenced to that show."
"It was like, ‘All right, you could have left if you really wanted that.’ But yeah, you know Chevy. That’s Chevy being Chevy."
"I wrote about this in my book, but I was like, ‘Hey, the feeling’s mutual, bud.'”

Many people on social media expressed how McHale's comments toward Chase were much-deserved.

Many also commented on Chase's racist interactions with actor Donald Glover.

It's also probably no surprise that Chase won't be making an appearance in the upcoming Community spinoff movie.

But it sounds like he won't be missed.

The manosphere is defined as a "varied collection of websites, blogs, podcasts, and online forums by men and for men often promoting masculinity, misogyny, and opposition to feminism. Communities within it include men's rights activists, incels, Men Going Their Own Way, pick-up artists, and fathers' rights groups."

Could SMG return to the IKWYDLS reboot?

Sarah Michelle Gellar? More like "Sarah Dead Gellar."

At least that’s what the iconic scream queen told director and best friend Jennier Kaytin Robinson when she tried to pitch all the ways to bring back Helen Shivers’ frozen corpse to life for the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot.
