Democrats experienced a major blow after twice-impeached former president and convicted felon Donald Trump became the President-elect as a result of the dramatic 2024 election.
As devastated and shocked voters who had expected Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris to become the first U.S. female President were left wondering how we got here, Jimmy Kimmel offered some insight with his usual mockery of Trump but not without issuing a sobering wake-up call for Trump supporters.
During his opening monologue on Wednesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the eponymous host recalled watching the disappointing results coming in on election night.
“Let’s be honest: It was a terrible night last night," said Kimmel, and began fighting back tears as he mentioned all the demographics that would be impacted by the disappointing election result.
He got emotional while telling his audience:
“It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country go, for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech."
Kimmel pressed on after getting choked up thinking of the non-privileged members of society who are experiencing anger, fear, and deep sadness as Trump supporters are beating their chests in triumph over their favored candidate's return to the White House.
"It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on Social Security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the truth and democracy and decency," said Kimmel.
“It was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him.”
However, Kimmel then gave a warning to MAGA voters, saying:
“And guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him, too."
"You just don’t realize it yet.”

Viewers were moved by Kimmel's emotional and compelling speech.
They also lauded him for being totally on point.
Many Americans are still reeling from the reality of the situation.
To those who were celebrating Trump's win for his non-consecutive second term in the Oval Office, Kimmel said:
"But it was a really good night for [Vladimir] Putin, and for polio, and for lovable billionaires like Elon Musk, and the bros up in Silicon Valley, and all the rigging brain worms who sold what was left of their souls to bow down to Donald Trump."
He continued:
"But you know what?"
"I'm going to say something Trump would never say unless it favored him: The people voted, and this is the choice we made."
"In January, Donald Trump becomes president and that's that. He won."
"It doesn't mean we give up, but it also doesn't mean we storm the Capitol because we don't like the result."
