Jeremy Renner Credits Daughter With His Recovery One Year After Near-Fatal Snowplow Accident

Monday marked one year since the snowplow accident that nearly claimed Jeremy Renner's life, and the actor took to Instagram to celebrate the special anniversary.

Last New Year's Day, Renner was left with more than 30 broken bones and underwent multiple surgeries after he was run over by his 7-ton snowplow in Reno, Nevada. The Marvel actor was hospitalized for two weeks before continuing his recovery at home.

In his Instagram post, Renner revealed that his 10-year-old daughter, Ava, was "reason number one" for his recovery.

Renner shared a photo of the father-daughter duo embracing, celebrating the new year.

He captioned the photo:

"Reason number One for my recovery is her."

"I asked her to 'wait for me' when I first saw her January 14 as I arrived home."

"As I got better, she got better, less afraid."

He continued, thanking his family and friends for their continued support.

"There is simply no better motivator to recover than to heal your family and friends…. "

"With gratitude always , thank you all for your love and support this last full year. I needed every ounce of goodwill and prayer 🙏🏼."

On CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast, Renner shared with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that he "had so many things to fight for" that he “never thought about my own physical ailments, or my own pain, or my own anguish.”

He said:

"I’m just so blessed that I had so many things to live for."

“I have a giant family, I have a 10-year-old daughter, [and] I would’ve disappointed and really messed up a lot of people’s lives if I would’ve passed. And so there’s a lot for me to get better for.”

Renner continued:

“Recovery was just a one-way road in my mind."

“And my recovery became relief for me, because I know I could give relief to my family, my daughter and to all those that I really affected.”

In his Instagram post, Renner also linked the music video for his song "WAIT" from his Love and Titanium collection, which opened with a letter to Ava that read:

"To my daughter, my everything, my only thing, my number one."

"You are the best part of me."

"You've become tremendously inspired at such a young age. Your grace, your thoughtfulness and your constitution make me so very proud."
