Alex Trebek Just Updated 'Jeopardy!' Fans About His Health Amid His Pancreatic Cancer Battle

Back in March, Alex Trebek, host of Jeopardy!, posted a video online revealing he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Though the prognosis was a dire one, Trebek delivered the news with confidence and humor, reminding people everywhere of exactly why he's such a beloved figure in the American media landscape.

On the final day of filming Jeopardy's 35th season, Trebek gave fans an update on his condition.

Trebek spoke about how touched he was by fans reaching out to him with support:

"Some of you may recall that at the beginning of this season, I promised you that we had some surprises for you. Well, of course, I had no idea at that time that there were some surprises in store for me as well."

"So here, on the last day of taping for our 35th anniversary season, I wanted once again to thank you for your continuing messages of encouragement and support, particularly the many cards I've received from young people. I'm touched beyond words."

The host told fans he intended to return, as planned, in September for Jeopardy's 36th season.

"I've always tried to be straight with you and I'm not going to stop now, so despite what you may have heard, I'm feeling good, I'm continuing with my therapy and we, by we, the staff, is already working on our next season, the 36th year of 'Jeopardy!'"

Back in March, the longtime fixture of network TV comforted fans with a joke after informing them of his diagnosis:

"Truth told, I have to because under the terms of my contract, I have to host 'Jeopardy!' for three more years, so help me. Keep the faith and we will win. We will get it done."

Fans were offering Trebek their full and unconditional support:

Trebek has been hosting Jeopardy! longer than many of his fans have been alive.

It's not Jeopardy! without Alex Trebek.

Of course, some Twitter users wished the show would change the caption on their tweet!

Trebek left fans on a hopeful note as he said goodbye for the next few months:

"I look forward to seeing you once again in September with all kinds of good stuff."
