Jen Psaki Swiftly Shuts Down Fox News Reporter After He Asks If The Border Is A 'Disaster'

Jen Psaki Swiftly Shuts Down Fox News Reporter After He Asks If The Border Is A 'Disaster'
C-SPAN2

When Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Jen Psaki a "gotcha" question during a recent news conference, President Joe Biden's White House Press Secretary responded with a well-formulated answer that got ample attention from Twitter.

You can see the exchange here:

Doocy asked Psaki:

"Does FEMA's arrival at the border mean that the administration feels that what is happening down at the border is a disaster?"

Psaki, who was less than amused by Doocy's line of questioning, replied:

"I know we always get into the fun of labels around here but I would say our focus is on solutions and this is one of the steps that the president felt would help -- not become a final solution -- but help expedite processing, help ensure that people who are coming across the border have access to health and medical care."

When Psaki pointed out the border crossings were enormous, Doocy asked:

"We've heard you say that it's a problem, it's a challenge. Is it now a disaster?"

Psaki wasn't fazed.

"I appreciate the opportunity. FEMA is there to help ensure that the people who are at the border, who are coming across the border have access to HHS and [Office of Refugee Resettlement] shelters, that we can swiftly place them with vetted families. They are playing a number of roles."

Doocy—the son of Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy—was dunked on by Twitter from all sides.

During his memorable moments in the briefing room, Doocy has seemed far more interested in making the Biden administration look bad than uncovering any serious information.

Psaki continues to impress viewers with her calm, collected reactions to many "gotcha" questions from right wing media.

This instance was no exception.
