A Trumper who harassed a transRuPaul's Drag Race personality has reportedly been fired from his job over the incident.
Jasmine Kennedie, who came out as trans while competing on season 14 of the show, filmed the encounter she had with a MAGA devotee while waiting for a train in New York City.
In the clip, which Kennedie posted to Instagram and X, the man could be seen following Kennedie both on and off the train, seeming to stalk her while calling her transphobic and homophobic slurs.
Kennedie was returning home to New Jersey after performing at The Playhouse in the West Village at the time of the incident. In her post, Kennedie said the man called her a "tr*nny" and a "f**got."
In video clips of the altercation she shared, the man can be heard uttering pro-Trump language in a threatening way:
“This is Trump’s America... Trump’s your daddy, Trump is your f*ckin’ daddy.”
Kennedie told LGBTQ+ news outlet PRIDE that she decided to "match his energy" and quickly stood up for herself.
When he pointed out that she has "a d*ck," she says she quickly replied:
"Yes, and it's probably bigger than yours."
After Kennedie informed him she would be going to the media with the footage she took, the man's demeanor instantly shifted to nervous acquiescence.
At one point, he could even be seen trying to fist-bump Kennedie in an attempt to smooth things over, but she refused to back down because, as she put it in her video, "these people want us to be scared to live our lives... I was not going to let that happen."
Kennedie also wondered aloud if the man was actually attracted to her and harassing her because of his discomfort with his own sexuality.
It seems that might be a solid theory. After her video went viral, the man was quickly identified as an employee of the very, very gay David Barton Gym (now known as Gym U) in the very, very gay Chelsea section of Manhattan.
Kennedie says she was contacted by the gym and informed he was fired the next day.
Online, Kennedie received an outpouring of support.
Kennedie thanked her fellow transit passengers who stood up for her during the altercation, and urged “all trans women and trans brothers and sisters: do not let them stoke fear in you.”
