The Democratic Rep. used lyrics from Rihanna's hit 'Take a Bow' to put Republicans on blast during a House Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday.

During a House Oversight Committee hearing on immigration, Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett used Rihanna lyrics to rip Republicans' "performative politics."

At the hearing, Crockett expressed doubt about the Republicans' ability to handle immigration effectively, highlighting their delayed budgeting processes.

In a nod to Rihanna, she quipped:

“They can’t figure out how to do a budget ’cause we’re six months behind, but somehow, they are going to solve this complex issue of immigration ― I seriously doubt it."
“And to quote a great known as Ri Ri, also known as Rihanna, how ’bout we give ‘a round of applause, a standing ovation’ because we have absolutely had nothing more than performative politics.”

You can hear what she said in the video below.

Many applauded Crockett's creative criticism of the opposing party.

Earlier in her remarks, Crockett drew attention to the recent tragic drowning deaths of three migrants, including a woman and two children from Mexico, near the U.S.-Mexico border.

She criticized the "pro-life party" for avoiding discussions about the "state-sanctioned" deaths at the Texas border:

“We are here today having a hearing, and the pro-life party does not want to talk about the fact that there was basically state-issued, or sanctioned, death at the Texas border. There could be nothing more inhumane than the fact that we have not even decided that we were going to discuss this on the pro-life side.”

Addressing the border crisis, Crockett highlighted President Joe Biden's efforts to allocate federal resources to support temporary food, shelter, and other services. However, she criticized MAGA House Republicans for refusing to provide resources to cities, states, and nonprofits.

Crockett said these Republicans "are refusing to give those cities and states those resources. President Biden has tried to put 1,300 more border patrol agents at the border to help, but Republicans have obstructed that request."

Crockett pointed out that Biden attempted to enhance border security with additional agents, "cutting-edge inspection devices," and "law enforcement personnel," but Republicans obstructed these requests. She concluded that she "can't tell" whether the GOP "are for anything other than obstruction and cruelty.”
