Jamie Foxx Seemingly Addresses Birthday Altercation That Left Him Needing Stitches In Cryptic Post

The Oscar winner was reportedly injured at a restaurant in Beverly Hills while he was there celebrating his birthday when "someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth."

Actor and comedian Jamie Foxx penned a cryptic post that appeared to address a physical altercation that transpired on his birthday at a Beverly Hills restaurant and left him injured, requiring treatment at a hospital.

On Friday night, the Beverly Hills Police Department responded to a report of an "assault with a deadly weapon " at Mr. Chow, a posh restaurant located on the 300 block of Camden Drive.

The media release stated that upon investigation at the scene, officers determined the alleged incident was "unfounded" and that it involved " a physical altercation between parties," without mentioning Foxx by name.

There were no arrests made.

However, according to CBS News, a spokesperson for the Collateral actor "was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth."

The spokesperson continued:

"He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement's hands."

Here is what the media covered.

Following the incident, Foxx, now 57, touched on the violent incident that left him needing stitches.

"The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me," he wrote.

He continued:

"When your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness."
"But they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright… "

Foxx also thanked fans for making his comedy special What Had Happened Was the number 1 most watched on Netflix.

"If you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul," he added.

Friends and colleagues expressed having his back.

In the new Netflix special, Foxx revealed he suffered a stroke that led to his hospitalization in April 2023.

Media outlets at the time reported Foxx collapsed on set during filming for Back in Action and was rushed to the hospital.

His 25-year-old daughter Corinne later informed the public that her father was hospitalized for an "unspecified medical emergency."

A month later, following speculation that the comedian was gravely ill, Corrine gave an update indicating Foxx had been "out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating."

While details about his medical emergency were private then, he opened up about having a new lease on life when he made his first public appearance since his health scare in December 2023.

Foxx was honored with the Vanguard Award for his performance in the Amazon Prime TV show The Burial at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television event honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI achievements.

During his acceptance speech, he said:

“I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s tough when it's almost over."
"I have a new respect for life. I have a new respect for my art."
