CNN's Jake Tapper Slams Fox for Personal Tweet After NYC Terror Attack

CNN's Jake Tapper Slams Fox for Personal Tweet After NYC Terror Attack

Fox News tweeted a lie by twisting CNN's Jake Tapper's words around in a tweet he posted in the wake of New York City's recent terrorist attack.

The Huffington Post managed to acquire a screenshot of Fox News's tweet deriding Tapper. The CNN journalist commented on the phrase 'Allahu Akbar' - the Arabic phrase for "God is great," proclaimed by terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov, the Uber driver responsible for plowing into cyclists and pedestrians in New York City on Tuesday.

Fox's tweet reporting on Jake Tapper's story has been taken down.

Refusing to let sleeping dogs lie, Tapper went after Fox News for taking his tweet out of context to report a lie.

On Tuesday's airing of his show The Lead, Tapper said, “The Arabic chant 'Allahu Akbar,' God is great, sometimes is said under the most beautiful of circumstances. And too often, we hear it being said in moments like this.”

But after Fox intentionally omitted to mention the second half of Tapper's statement, he took to Twitter to set the record straight, saying, "Fox News is lying. I said it can be said at beautiful moments (wedding, birth) and too often at times like this (horrific terrorist attack)."

He followed up with the correction, adding, “Allahu Akbar” is a prayer; if we don’t understand how radical Islamic terrorists justify their evil using religion, West cannot defeat it."

And while the sour reputation of Fox isn't breaking news, Tapper admonished the network for their ill-advised tweet in the aftermath of a horrific incident.

"And yes, I know they do this all the time. Still, literally the day after this horrific attack that they would launch this smear — it’s sick," he tweeted.

Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who guest-hosted "The Five" on Wednesday apologized to Tapper for the criticism, and tweeted to his followers, "In retrospect I don't think I gave @jaketapper a fair shake tonight. My bad."

Meanwhile, Sean Hannity lacked any conscience. He urged Tapper to tell the audience the truth and maintained that Tapper's constant criticism of Fox News landed himself in low ratings. Hannity referred to Tapper as "liberal fake news CNN’s fake Jake Tapper," during his 10 p.m. news program.

Tapper responded by calling out Hannity's hypocrisy, referring to unsubstantiated claims surrounding the ongoing investigation into the murder of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich in May 2017.

And Tapper has full support on Twitter.

Fox News Host Ripped After Claiming Trump's Presidency Is 'Normal' For Bonkers Reason

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade had people raising eyebrows after he claimed President Donald Trump's presidency is a "normal" one because of the various championship-winning sports teams who have visited the White House as of late.

One day before the Philadelphia Eagles were scheduled to visit the White House—and shortly after Trump hosted the World Series champion Dodgers—Kilmeade argued that because the Dodgers had been welcomed there and Trump recently interacted with basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal, everything was "normal," in his words.
