A White man called the cops on an Indigenous woman because he thought she was trying to steal her own car from a parking lot.
A video of the incident was posted in a TikTok video that went viral with over 2 million views.
The woman—19-year-old Canadian TikToker Taniah Swampy—filmed the man standing by her car as he was on the phone and waiting for the police to show.
Swampy wrote in the video's caption:
" Racism needs to stop man!! Waste of our time having to wait for the cops just to tell us we're good to leave."

Although the video did not show what prompted the man to call the authorities, Swampy explained:
"Man called the cops because he thought we were stealing from our own vehicle."
She also said the man's wife tried to convince her husband to leave the woman and her friends alone.
A second video showed what happened when the man found out the car belonged to her.
He remained on the line and claimed she hit his car in order to justify his call to the police.
At that point, after he made the false accusation, she was unable to leave the scene.
