The adorable snapshot melted the hearts of social media users.

Captain Dave Colson works on the hazardous materials team for the department located in the city of Glendale–which is 10 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona.

A spokesperson for the department told McClatchy News that Colson and his crew were responding to a call of a gas leak at a location that happened to be down the street from where Colson lived.

When the situation was taken care of, Colson's wife allowed their eager daughter to greet him.

The spokesperson said of the firefighter's wife:

"She quickly snapped this photo of them just before he swept her into his arms for a hug."

The photo showed the little girl in her diaper making a beeline toward her daddy in the middle of the closed residential street.

Dad appeared to have a huge smile on his face as he walked to greet the toddler.
