We all carry a secret–whether it's a scandalous one that could cause irreparable damage or one that is extremely embarrassing, it's better to take it to the grave than to live life through endless mockery.

But no matter how enigmatic we are, some of our best-kept secrets can escape us, or someone may think they know a person has been up to misdeeds.

Redditor Sheeppower4 had a hypothetical scenario and asked:

"A person comes up to you and says: 'I know what you did'. What’s the first thing that comes to mind?"

Some people resorted to humor for their responses.

A Wisecrack

"Then you weren’t as drunk as me."

Shroomtune

When Memory Fails

"F'k what did I forget now?"

– ForgottenForce

The Stash

"The hoard of granola bars under my desk in a shopping bag I've been slowly building up."

– ReverendLoveboy

Busted

"Sh*t, they know about the cheese heist."

– Blocko_tritaco

Some would be left scratching their heads.

Huh???

"Confusion."

– Ccaster0620

"Very much confusion, because I haven't done anything scandalous."

"I go to work and I go home. Sometimes I go to the grocery store."

"I wish I wasn't quite a goody two shoes, but here I am. Boring. So what did I do? I have no idea."

– brokendowndryer

Second-Guessing

"I would also be confused. But worried too because what if I did something unintentionally?"

– bunnyrut

Elaborate, Please

"Right? Which terrible thing are you referring to? That thing yesterday with the mess? Last week and the shovel? The tarps and ropes in January?"

"Please be more specific."

– hippocratical

Frame Of Reference

"Ominous undertones aside, I feel like this would probably be my response regardless. Most people have done plenty of things in their lifetime... good, bad, and everything between. If you don't specify which thing you're referring to, I'm not really going to have a frame of reference of where the conversation is going."

– ReggieLeBeau

Some turned the hypothetical confrontation into a challenge.

And?

"But can you prove it?"

oilfeather

Perspective

"It's not about what you know, it's about what can you prove in court."

– GraceChamber

Blow Their Cover

"They're lying. It took a lot of time and effort to cover my tracks, no way that anyone knows about it."

– Chucks_u_Farley

Two Can Play This Game

"I would say, 'Me too.'"

"And stare at them not speaking any more."

– Oriumpor

If you're an open book with nothing to hide, hats off to you.

It must be nice walking around as someone who possesses no ounce of guilt, whatsoever.

But I can detect there's something lurking behind that confident smug.

'Fess up, buddy. I know what you did.

Why not relieve some of that burden bearing down on your shoulders and come clean? I won't tell...

Now, what's your response?

Kari Lake Slammed After Warning Parents Not To Send Their Kids To College After Charlie Kirk Murder

Speaking during a memorial service for far-right activist Charlie Kirk at the Kennedy Center, failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake—now the Trump administration's Senior Advisor for the U.S. Agency for Global Media—called U.S. colleges “indoctrination camps” and urged parents not to send their children.

Lake ignored the fact that Kirk was killed while speaking at a college, in this case Utah Valley University (UVU), the largest university by enrollment in Utah.

Vance Claims Kirk Never Insulted Black Women's 'Brain Processing Power'—And Here Come The Receipts

Vice President JD Vance served as host of the late far-right activist Charlie Kirk's podcast this week and was called out after claiming Kirk "never uttered" words about the "brain processing power" of Black women—even though Kirk said as much in 2023.

Vance made the claim after Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah—a Black woman—said she was dismissed from the paper following social media posts on gun control and race after Kirk’s assassination.

Trump Swiftly Fact-Checked After Making Bonkers Claim About How Many Americans Died From Drugs Last Year

President Donald Trump was criticized after attempting to justify the bombing of a suspected Venezuelan drug boat by asserting that 300 million people died from drugs last year.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Trump was asked about the order he gave earlier this month to destroy a boat he suspected of transporting drugs off the coast of Venezuela, rather than simply intercepting it. All 11 people on board the boat were killed.
