'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' Release Date—When Does It Come Out?

'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' Release Date—When Does It Come Out?

What is the release date of "Harry Potter Wizards: Unite?" Today, Niantic announced a real-world AR game for the wizarding world. When will it drop?

According to the press release:

With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies. We're thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and WB Games San Francisco’s development team to bring this magical and beloved series to life in a brand new way. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will leverage the full stack of the Niantic Platform while also providing an opportunity to pioneer all new technology and gameplay mechanics.

At the beginning of the press release, Niantic mentions that its highly popular Pokemon Go came out last July. However, the concept of the game began in 2014, when Satoru Iwata of Nintendo and Tsunekazu Ishihara of The Pokemon Company teamed with Google for an April Fools' Day with Google Maps: Pokemon Challenge, reports CNET. That concept eventually spawned the idea for the actual game of Pokemon Go, which was announced with a Japan-exclusive beta test by Niantic on March 4, 2016, after Ishihara approached them with the idea.

So depending at what stage of development the game is at, and if any chronology of past Niantic announcements holds true, we may expect "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite" in early 2018 with perhaps an earlier, region-specific beta test.

However, fans wanting to subscribe to any sort of announcement about the upcoming game can go to the official website to sign-up for email updates.

Michelle Obama Opens Up About Why She Skipped Trump's Inauguration—And The 'Ridicule' She Faced

Former First Lady Michelle Obama attended the 2017 inauguration of former and current MAGA Republican President Donald Trump. Man Who Nancy Mace Accused Of 'Harassing' Her In Ulta Store Speaks Out

South Carolina MAGA Republican Representative Nancy Mace—whose entire brand seems to be attacking people and then crying victim—is being exposed once again for embellishing reality to further her anti-LGBTQ+ agenda.

On April 19, Mace posted a video of her yelling obscenities at a constituent on her social media and later pinning it to the top of her feed. But like many who live in red districts, the man just wanted to know when Mace would hold a town hall to speak to voters.
