Harrison Ford Was Asked If He Has Social Anxiety—And His Response Is Hilariously On Brand

Harrison Ford plays the role of therapist Dr. Paul Rhodes in the new Apple TV+ series Shrinking, a comedy drama about a grieving therapist who ditches his formal training - as well as ethics - and takes his own road to dealing with his clients... by telling them what he really thinks.

While Ford has been making the rounds promoting the new series that revolves around therapy, he recently made it very clear to The Hollywood Reporter that the practice is of no use to someone like him who already knows "who the f**k" he is.

He shared his genuine thoughts on the profession:

"My opinion is not of the profession, it’s of the practitioner."

"There are all kinds of therapy. I’m sure many of them are useful to many people."

"I’m not anti-therapy for anybody — except for myself. I know who the f**k I am at this point."

The conversation then turned to Ford's fans conducting their own "armchair diagnosis" of the actor noting that he appears "shy in social situations and some of [his] talk show appearances."

When asked if there is any truth to their assumption of social anxiety disorder, Ford bluntly answered:

"Sh*t. That sounds like something a psychiatrist would say, not a casual observer."

"No. I don't have a social anxiety disorder."

He then snarked:

"I have an abhorrence of boring situations."

The interviewer proceeded to pick up the mic that Ford dropped. (We kid.)

Readers of the interview loved the Indiana Jones star's honesty and agreed with his comment (#same).

Ford did reveal that in his early days, he was "terrified" of being onstage, which at the time was foreign to him.

"I was shy when I first went onstage - I wasn't shy, I was f**king terrified. My knees would shake so badly you could see it from the back of the theater."

"But that's not social anxiety. That's being unfamiliar with the territory."

"I was able to talk myself through that and then enjoy the experience of being onstage and telling a story with collaborators."
