Mark Hamill, the legendary Luke Skywalker himself, encountered Natalie Portman, who played his mother Padmé Amidala within the Star Wars cinematic universe, in a spontaneous backstage rendezvous at Sunday's Golden Globes that had social media users beaming.
In the aftermath of the star-studded event, Hamill shared a delightful moment with his 'screen mother,' Natalie Portman, commemorating the long-awaited meeting.
The actor joyfully expressed the momentous occasion by posting a snapshot of their encounter online, remarking:
"Now I have finally met my 'mother,' thanks to the [Golden Globes]."

The fascination with Hamill and Portman's on-screen relationship had long captured the imaginations of Star Wars aficionados, given that their characters never crossed paths in the cinematic saga.
Despite their roles as parent and child in the beloved franchise, the actors had never formally met, leading to playful jests and lighthearted banter about their pending introduction.
Hamill often quipped about the disparity between their on-screen personas and real-life appearances, once saying:
"When I saw that Natalie Portman was my mother, I thought holy moly. A woman that beautiful has a kid that looks like this? I'm not buying it."

While Portman graced the Golden Globes as a nominee for her role in May December, Hamill took the stage to present the inaugural award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, adding an extra touch of Star Wars magic to the evening's proceedings.
While Portman did not win the award—losing to Emma Stone for her performance in Poor Things—it's clear she won Hamill's adoration that night, kicking off this year's awards season with a bang.
