Wedding Guest Sparks Debate After Cutting Herself A Piece Of Cake Before The Newlyweds Did

Wedding Guest Sparks Debate After Cutting Herself A Piece Of Cake Before The Newlyweds Did

In case anyone was wondering, here are a few common wedding etiquette tips regarding the infamous wedding cake.

Number One, you should not cut the wedding cake before the bride and groom have had their moment.

Number Two, do not cut into the small cake tier that hosts the bridal cake topper as the happy couple may be saving it for their first anniversary.

Number Three, just for safety's sake, don't serve yourself the wedding cake unless specifically told to do so. There are usually designated people at the wedding who will serve the wedding cake, as well as a self-serve general dessert table.

Also, if you were to decide to do these things, you probably shouldn't post about it on social media, unlike Hailey of @mediocrehailey on TikTok.

While filming moments from the wedding they were attending, an anonymous videographer zoomed in on Hailey who had bypassed the dessert table entirely and gone straight for a small wedding cake with the bridal cake topper still intact.

In the video, Hailey takes a few glances around while cutting the cake and putting a slice on her plate. She then licks her fingers multiple times while still handling the serving knife.

The absolute icing on the poor wedding etiquette cake was her dancing in her Minnie Mouse-esque dress to the beat of the song playing while still licking icing off of her fingers.

At the end of the video, a woman in a light gold dress approaches her, to which Hailey appears to reply:

"I think it's okay."

Some were furious with Hailey for cutting the cake instead of having the brownies offered.

Others couldn't believe the videographer didn't stop her.

Later, the bride chimed in with her take on Cakegate.

But others needed more time to express their frustrations.

Whether or not the bride excused Hailey's behavior, TikTok needed a minute to catch its collective breath.

While the bride may have decided to not have this be the hill she decided to die on during her wedding day, it hardly excuses a person helping themselves to the wedding cake top tier, especially when there were brownies available.
