Monday, August 17, was the first day of the Democratic National Convention, and many notable Democrats from all over the country virtually converged to give speeches on their visions for the future of the party.

One speaker, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, gave a well-reviewed speech, saying:

" Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will lead by example. Science, not politics or ego, will drive their decisions."

But as good as her speech was, something else she said that night would ultimately get far more attention.

Just before going live, Whitmer was caught on a hot mic explaining Shark Week to an offscreen friend.

"It's not just Shark Week...It's Shark Week, motherf*ckers."

Whitmer's phrase is often circulated by super-fans of Shark Week to express their enthusiasm.

After laughter around the studio, Whitmer seemed to call out the moment on her own, saying with a finger wag:

"I have learned about the hot mic."

Twitter's love for Whitmer only grew after hearing her statement.

Can you really trust a governor who isn't excited about Shark Week?

Many were surprised this wasn't some sort of comedy sketch.

Whitmer continues to amass new fans with her love of sharks.

The Democratic National Convention will continue on Tuesday, August 18. If only more of the politicians who are going to be there would express their opinions on Shark Week!

Trump Explains Why He's 'Safe' From Musk Becoming President In Bonkers Speech

During a speech at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest conference, President-elect Donald Trump rejected claims that his billionaire ally Elon Musk is overshadowing him following backlash over Musk's role in blocking the emergency spending measure to prevent a government shutdown.

Trump dismissed the idea that he had “ceded the presidency” to Musk. He added that even if Musk aspired to the role, he wouldn’t qualify due to the Constitution’s stipulation that the U.S. president must be a natural-born citizen—a requirement Musk, born in South Africa, does not meet.

TikToker Gets Hilariously Petty Revenge On Grocery Store Worker Who Was Rude To Her Mom

No matter what our relationships with our own mothers might be, we can all agree that we shouldn't show disrespect to someone else's mom. If we do, there will more than likely be consequences, full stop.

TikToker @prettyfacejayb proved this when she was at a grocery store. Prior to filming, the TikToker's mother had come to the store and needed to put something back on the shelf, and one of the store's employees was rude to her about it.
