QAnon adherent and Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia insulted GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky over his support of a deal to raise the debt ceiling.

Greene voiced her displeasure in a tweet on Monday.

Greene said:

“The House of Representatives is voting after midnight tonight because @LeaderMcConnell allowed Democrats to bi-pass the filibuster and ram through the debt ceiling increase to $31.5 TRILLION”
“Mitch is Biden's bitch.”

The QAnon conspiracy believing member of the House of Representatives is referring to a bipartisan plan to allow the debt ceiling to be raised without altering the filibuster.

A bill allowing the Senate to vote to pass a measure to raise the debt ceiling by a simple majority vote on a different bill. The first bill was passed with 14 Republicans voting with Democrats to pass the measure.

The deal was brokered by the Democrats with Mitch McConnell to allow the debt ceiling to be raised while also allowing Republican politicians to claim they didn’t directly vote for it.

McConnell may be an underhanded politician, but Greene’s comments still struck a sour note online.

On top of Greene’s comments being crude, it also pushes a narrative that fundamentally misunderstands the debt ceiling.

The debt ceiling is an artificial limit Congress places on themselves to limit borrowing. However, it doesn’t actually limit the spending they do when a budget is passed, which means politicians have to fight over the limit every so often to raise the borrowing limit to pay for the debts they already said they would pay.

The current level of debt is related to government spending and taxation under the last few Presidents, including spending passed by former President Donald Trump. Trump increased federal debt by $7.8 trillion while in office.

The only thing the debt ceiling does is play a game of chicken over whether we’ll actually pay our debts.

Greene’s colorful tweet about McConnell gained a lot of attention online, but also highlighted a growing discord in the Republican party. While some see the back and forth between Trump loyalists and other members of the GOP as a snake eating its own tail, others see political gamesmanship.

Despite the fact a dozen other Republican Senators voted with McConnell to allow the raising of the debt ceiling, McConnell is the one being blamed. He’s acting as a lightning rod for MAGA hate in the Republican party.

This allows other members of the party to associate or distance themselves from Trump as necessary.

However, if the frothing anger gets worse, there’s a good chance McConnell won’t be in power long enough for that to last.

Greene is known for her temper, especially when the Republican party does something she doesn't like.

It doesn't matter if it's just teaming up with another conservative group that happens to be gay, she will make sure you know how angry and bigoted she is at all times.

Speaking to anchor Jake Tapper on CNN last April, Ohio Republican Mike Turner said that Russian propaganda had "infected" the GOP in a clip that has resurfaced after President-elect Donald Trump had him ousted as House Intelligence Committee chair.

That claim came after House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Michael McCaul, who said he thinks "Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base."
