Georgia Daycare Under Fire After Video Shows Them Serving White Kids Food Before Black Kids

Georgia Daycare Under Fire After Video Shows Them Serving White Kids Food Before Black Kids

A daycare in Roswell, Georgia sparked outrage when a photo taken from a classroom appeared to show all the White children in the classroom eating their lunches while all the Black children sat and waited with no food in front of them.

The incident has drawn such a barrage of criticism that the daycare franchise's parent company, Kids R' Kids, has dropped the location, CBS 46 Atlanta reported.

The segregated serving was originally noticed by Adryan McCauley, who decided to check on his 2-year-old son by watching the daycare's video livestream.

McCauley told CBS 46 that he was shocked by what he saw.

"They were skipping all of the black kids it seemed like...All the white kids got their lunch, and all the black kids had to wait."
"From the videos and pictures that we saw today, we are just completely disturbed."

Immediately, McCauley took a screenshot of the video and posted it to Instagram, where he shared his disappointment in a lengthy caption.

Not surprisingly, people who saw McCauley's post were horrified.

After McCauley posted the picture, his mother went to pick his son up from daycare right away, where she received a...lackluster explanation.

"Mom went and picked him up immediately, and the director said 'I'm not really sure because I'm not in the classroom, maybe it's a dietary thing.' "

Eventually, the backlash grew fierce enough for the Kids R' Kids President and CEO, David Vinson, to respond.

He argued that there was more to the story.

"I wish that everybody would be able to see the video in entirety first and not just a snapshot."

Vinson did, however, confirm the company issued a direct apology to McCauley and his family.

In addition, Vinson announced Kids R' Kids dropped the Roswell branch entirely.

"Perception is unfortunately reality, and with the cancel culture, unfortunately, it's the perception."
Vinson shared similar thoughts in an official Instagram post.

Dee Gillespie, the Owner/Director of the Roswell Kids R' Kids location where it all went down, also put out a statement.

"We know the act was random, and the photo doesn't show the entire room; we believe if the parents viewed the videos they would understand. I wish they could see the compassion we have."

This tweet spoke for many once the story made the rounds online.

It's yet another incident that makes you scratch your head and wonder what's going on in classrooms where there is no livestream.
