Trump Supporters Had A Full On Meltdown After Thinking Garth Brooks Was Making A Political Statement With His 'Sanders' Jersey

Country superstar Garth Brooks took the stage in Detroit this past weekend to do a show singing many of his greatest hits.

While performing, he wore a Barry Sanders jersey, honoring one of the greatest ever players for the Detroit Lions who he also happened to know in college.

Unfortunately for Brooks, who posted a photo to Instagram of himself in the jersey, many Trump supporters misinterpreted his apparel as an endorsement of 2020 candidate Bernie Sanders.

Many of Brooks's fans began attacking him for his "political" preferences!

During the concert, Brooks made a point of explaining his jersey, saying:

"I was lucky enough to be an athlete and to wear the same uniform as this guy wore in college. I was lucky to go to school with him. You guys got the greatest player in NFL history in my opinion in this jersey. I love this man."

But it was too little too late for Brooks's many Trump supporting fans.

The news has definitely taken a strange turn as of late.

Barry Sanders himself even chimed in to help Brooks out.

Many wondered what the world would look like if Bernie had played for the Lions.

Even if Brooks WAS endorsing Bernie for President, many thought the backlash against him was a bit unfair.

If you don't know about Barry Sanders, you need to rethink many of your life choices.

Garth Brooks wasn't endorsing Bernie Sanders...but after being attacked by an army of Trump supporters, he just might.
