Fox News Host Roasted For 'Self-Own' After Mocking Matthew McConaughey's White House Speech

The Fox News crew will just never learn about the pitfalls of the self-own, will they?

At least, Fox anchor Jesse Watters never will.

Watters had some thoughts about how supposedly embarrassing it is that Democratic President Joe Biden's administration invited A-list actor and Uvalde, Texas native Matthew McConaughey to the White House to talk about the shooting there.

Watters found it laughably absurd celebrities are being asked to opine on weighty matters, seemingly forgetting just days ago he had former Jersey Shore star DJ Pauly D on his own show to inform us all about inflation.

Watters may have forgotten, but the internet of course never does, and now they're roasting him for throwing stones at his own glass house.

See Watters' segment below.

Speaking with war criminal and Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff to former Republican President George W. Bush, Watters bellyached about McConaughey by saying:

"What are the White House going to do now? They going to put Tom Cruise out to talk inflation?"

Hopefully not, but an Oscar-nominated actor would certainly be a step up from an unemployed reality star best known for essentially putting glue in his hair and getting in drunken brawls on MTV.

Like no shade to DJ Pauly D but Tom Cruise has at least run a multi-million dollar company for 30 years! If we're pitting celebrities against each other for their credibility on economic issues, well... sorry, Mr. Cruise wins in a landslide.

Anyway, after promoting gun control measures like background checks, waiting periods, "red flag" laws and raising the purchasing age to 21, McConaughey told the White House press room:

"We’ve got a chance right now to reach for and to grasp a higher ground above our political affiliations."
"A chance to make a choice that does more than protect your party, a chance to make a choice that protects our country now and for the next generation."

Pretty start contrast to DJ Pauly D's economic analysis last month, which basically centered on concerns over how much his pool guy is charging him lately.

And on Twitter, nobody was about to let Watters slide on this one--they roasted him to a crisp, not only for the DJ Pauly D segment but several others featuring totally unqualified celebs speaking on the issues.

Your move, Watters.

People Who Knew Celebrities Before They Were Big Explain What They Were Like

We all have to start somewhere, and that's even true for celebrities.

What's interesting is that the majority of people can go through life while continuing to be primarily the same person they were all along. But when it comes to celebrities, sometimes they totally change who they are when they find fame, or they fall short of the person we imagine them to be on-screen or on-stage.
