Fox News Anchor Roasted Hard After Claiming A Gallon Of Milk Is 'Nearly $11' In New York City
Fox News

A Fox News anchor is getting dunked on and dunked on hard after claiming on air a gallon of milk in New York city costs "nearly $11."

For the record it is not $11. It is not anywhere near $11.

Sandra Smith was careful to stipulate that prices are higher in general in New York City. But even factoring in that and America's current problem with seemingly runaway inflation, $11 for a gallon of milk is an absurd notion.

And as it turns out it's also a claim easily refuted by, you know, simply JFGI.

See the clip that started it all below.

As a chyron onscreen blared the moniker "Inflation Nation," Smith claimed:

"I bought a gallon of milk last night — granted, we live in New York, things are higher priced than a lot of areas in the country — it's nearly $11 for a gallon of milk at a New York grocery store."

If that sounds absurd to you, it's because it is--mostly anyway.

For national-brand organic milk at stores like Whole Foods and New York City's local Gristedes chain, you will pay nearly $11 per gallon. But those are brands and store chains that are known for high prices.

According to USDA statistics, the average price for a gallon of milk in New York City is closer to $5 per gallon, hovering around $4.69 at the end of last month.

But in the case of both Whole Foods and Gristedes, a gallon of both chains' in-house organic brands go for twenty cents less than that, at $4.49.

So can you pay $11 for a gallon of milk in NYC? Sure, if you if you want to for some reason--say, so that you can squawk about it on a national right-wing propaganda network the business model of which is undermining the Democratic President by stoking fear and animus in its viewership, for instance.

But must you pay $11 for a gallon of milk in NYC? Not by a long shot, context which Smith of course neglected to include in her "reporting."

Naturally, scores of New Yorkers took to Twitter to refute Smith's ludicrous and easily disproven claim, and roasted her to a crisp in the process.

Stay tuned next month when Smith claims a dozen eggs cost $6,375 in gold doubloons because of something to do with Joe Biden's son's laptop, or whatever.
