Fans weren't quite sure what to make of the rapper's pitchy yet spirited rendition of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at a Milwaukee Bucks game on Sunday.

Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav surprised basketball fans by appearing at a Milwaukee Buck's game to sing the national anthem.

His performance was enthusiastic, if not entirely on key, and he brought a traditional vibrato to his long notes.

Views of the Milwaukee Bucks' Sunday night post on X (formerly Twitter) quickly shot into the millions. Flavor Flav's rendition was, perhaps unfairly, compared to those of performers like Fergie, whose efforts were not well received.

Flavor Flav did remark that it was a bucket list item for him to get to perform the national anthem at a game.

Folks were pleasantly surprised, having gone in with admittedly low expectations.

Fans praised his bravery at attempting the difficult song in public.

People appreciated his effort.

It was clear that he had rehearsed for this big moment.

Besides, it's the national anthem. It's more about how passionate you are.

He is truly unique.

The Bucks lost the game to the Atlanta Hawks, 127-110.

Sarah Michelle Gellar? More like "Sarah Dead Gellar."
