'Family Feud' Contestant Who Joked About His Marriage Now Accused Of Killing His Wife
Inside Edition

Timothy Bliefnick, who appeared on the game show in 2020, was arrested this week in connection with the murder of his estranged wife, Rebecca.

You know those people who are always joking around but it kind of doesn't seem like they're joking? When those people are men joking about hating their wives, keep an eye on them.

Because a man who made a joke on Family Feud about regretting getting married is now charged with the brutal murder of the wife in question, and the story of what he is accused of doing to her is nothing short of horrifying.

Timothy Bliefnick was arrested last week in connection with the shooting murder of his wife Rebecca, who was in the process of divorcing him. And in a plot point straight out of a true-crime podcast, Bliefnick's 2019 Family Feud appearance has now taken on ominous new meaning.

While appearing on the game show, Bliefnick was asked to identify the biggest mistake he made at his wedding.

Bliefnick replied:

“Honey, I love you, but I said ‘I do.' ... I love my wife. I’m gonna get in trouble for that, aren’t I?”

Cut to four years later, and Bliefnick's 41-year-old wife Rebecca, an award-winning nurse, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds on February 23 in her home in Quincy, Illinois after her family raised alarms when she did not show up to pick up her children from school.

Timothy Bliefnick denies committing the crime, and his attorney Casey Schnack downplayed the uproar over his potentially incriminating Family Feud "joke" while speaking to Fox News.

He told the network:

“It’s a game show. A silly answer to a silly question on a silly show doesn’t make one a murderer.”

But even without the game show appearance, the details of Timothy Bliefnick's relationship with his estranged wife do not paint him in the best light.

The couple, who married in 2009, were undergoing divorce proceedings at the time of Rebecca's death after having been separated for years. During their separation, Rebecca had obtained restraining orders against both her husband and her father-in-law with the help of a domestic violence agency.

Timothy Bliefnick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and home invasion.

On social media, people found Bliefnick's story deeply disturbing.

Rebecca Bliefnick was laid to rest March 3.

Timothy Bliefnick did not attend her services.
