Life is imitating art with the announcement of a new stage show coming to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California based on a fictional musical scene from the Disney+ Marvel series Hawkeye.
A condensed version of the self-parodying Rogers: The Musical –inspired by the life of the first Captain America, Steve Rogers–will take over the long-dormant Hyperion Theater located inside Disney California Adventure Park.
Viewers of Hawkeye will be familiar with the 5-minute "Save the City" sequence in the meta-theatrical event featured in the first episode of the series.
The fake production featured real-life Broadway veterans Adam Pascal, Ty Taylor, Rory Donovan, Derek Klena, Bonnie Milligan, Christopher Sieber and Shayna Steele.
It ostentatiously depicted the Battle of New York scene from Avengers with a rousing song and dance number as Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, the only Avenger to show up for the performance, shrunk in his seat from the audience.
You can watch the musical number penned by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman in the clip below.
The Disney Parks Twitter account posted a teaser trailer of Peggy Carter holding a playbill for the musical and strutting towards the Hyperion as its marquee announcing "coming soon" lights up.
The video's caption read:
"A timeless story of a timeless hero!"
"A short one-act musical is coming for a limited time this summer to Disney California Adventure Park! Stay tuned for more details."

The Hyperion Theater–located in the Hollywood Land section of California Adventure–has been shuttered since March 13, 2020 a day before Disney officially closed the Disneyland Resort due to the global COVID-19 outbreak.
When the resort which includes the original Disneyland park reopened 13 months later, the doors to the Hyperion remained closed.
Park guests last saw Frozen–Live at the Hyperion at the venue and have long wondered what the popular show's successor would be.
Disney knew they had a potential smash hit on their hands when "Save the City" was presented live for the first time in front of approving fans attending the Marvel panel at last year's D23 Expo–the official fan club event for the Walt Disney Company founded in 2009.
“@DisneyParks YAY!!! Best news ever!!! 🤩🤩 I’ve always wanted this to happen (at the Hyperion) and I can’t believe it’s actually happening!! 🤩🤩 As a HUGE fan of Cap and this musical, I was screaming like crazy when the @Marvel panel surprised us with it at @DisneyD23 Expo last year! 🤩😄”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
The MCU-themed show would be a fitting addition to the park.
Its location is adjacent to the new Avenger's Campus with the thrilling Guardians of the Galaxy–Mission: Breakout! drop tower attraction as its tall neighbor.
Meanwhile, Walt Disney World (WDW) fans over in Orlando, Florida are getting envious.
“@DisneyParks What about Florida?? You guys should do this at all your parks @disneyparks”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks Ok. I want to go to California specifically for this. Marvel Campus at WDW when?!?!”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks DL gets all the cool stuff....”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks Another example of DLR favoritism over WDW - which hasn't gotten a new major stage show in years with the exception of Frozen
and multiple bird show rewrites. Entertainment is the cheapest way to get the most amount of guests out of lines, satisfied. Give Orlando some love.”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks We can’t even get Voyage of the Little Mermaid back at WDW i mean I’m so jealous this is absurd”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks Bring this to WDW please 😩”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
Earlier this month, Micechat shared Disney Live Entertainment posted a cryptic audition notice about a new:
"Broadway-caliber theatrical production at the Disneyland Resort, planned for a limited run in the state-of-the-art, indoor, 2000-seat Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure Park.”
“@DisneyParks Ok I haven’t gotten this excited about a show announcement in a long time! Here’s hoping it’s good and ends up being more than just a limited engagement!”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks Please do this right and please make it more than a limited engagement”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks @Disneyland LETS GO! I CAN DO THIS ALL DAY!!!!”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
The theatrical live entertainment division of Walt Disney Imagineering added they were collaborating with book writer Hunter Bell–known for his work and appearance in the Tony Award-nominated [Title of Show]; and Grammy-winning composer Christopher Lennertz–who wrote Marvel's first ever musical number with Tony award-winning lyricist David Zippel in Agent Carter.
“@DisneyParks And there goes Disney taking all of my money. While I am so beyond excited for this the bigger question is when is Agent Carter going to make her appearance in Avengers Campus?!”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
“@DisneyParks we want her too”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
Disneyland Resort noted more details about the storyline, music and opening date will be announced at a later time.
“@DisneyParks About time!!!!!”— Disney Parks (@Disney Parks) 1677175410
Get ready to take a bow.
