People Share True Facts About Themselves That Sound Like A Lie

Truth is stranger than fiction and some people live wilder lives than others.

Whether the government forgot you exist or you successfully ran from home or even if you did neither of those things but somehow had something intriguing happen to you all the same, there's a place for you.

Don't believe me? You can thank Redditor JRStod, who asked the online community,

"What's a true fact about you that sounds like a lie?"

"For a brief moment..."

For a brief moment in my life, while I was in kindergarten, I technically didn't exist as a person to the government.

legendaryboomer

That's crazy. How was this resolved? What did your parents have to do?

"I was adopted..."

I was adopted as a baby via a closed adoption. Closed adoption means there is no way for me to find out who my bio parents are and no way for them to find out who I am. I still ended up meeting my bio mom all because I bent over to pet a cat.

PeopleAreIrksome

Say what?! You can't just leave us hanging like this.

"I am..."

I am a successful runaway. I left home at 15.

PhantomSpaceman13

It sounds like you're better off wherever you are now.

"Yup."

My lung collapsed for no reason other than I'm a tall, thin, white male who is between the ages of 20 and 40.

Yup. Sometimes doctors give you the wildest explanations.

WipeHypeGaming

Wow!

Random, scary, but it sounds like you made it through okay, which is good!

"I am missing..."

I am missing the index finger on my left hand because it was bitten off by a 7ft tall black bear when I was 7 years old.

mreguy81

That is pretty scary. You're lucky that's all that happened.

"When I was a kid..."

When I was a kid I was kidnapped by a neighbour and locked in a wardrobe. The kidnapper was a mother to a kid in my class at school, and she said she didn't want him and she was going to keep me instead. Neighbours saw her grab me and called the police. She's now in prison after stabbing and killing a police officer through the heart with a kitchen knife.

This is a crazy story and sadly things like this happen – thankfully you are safe!

"That's what the dentists all called it."

Giphy

As a kid I had a ghost tooth.

That's what the dentists all called it. It was an adult tooth that was growing in with no enamel, so in the x-rays it looked ghost like.

ButterPuds

There's a good horror movie plot somewhere... we just need some inspiration.

"I can't properly..."

I can't properly use my left hand at all, so when I eat with knife and a fork, after cutting something, I have to switch and put the fork in my right hand to actually put the food in my mouth.

emina46

Sounds like you've made it work in spite of the obstacle!

"Despite the resulting dissonance..."

Despite the resulting dissonance, I can play scales in any two keys on the piano at the same time over 5 octaves with the exact fingering in each hand.

Back2Bach

Pretty cool skill! You must be a hit at parties.

"After the war..."

My great-grandfather served on the wrong side during World War II in Germany. He wasn't a Nazi per se, but he did run a Polish POW camp. My grandmother was a little girl at the time and she befriended a lot of the soldiers there.

After the war, during the winter time, he was called in to shovel snow off the train tracks because his coworker was drunk. He was struck and killed by a train.

I don't think "per se" cuts it for most people...

It never hurts to do a quick Google search on any new facts you come across in this day in age. Even Snapple cap facts.

Jesse Watters Dragged After Adding Another Mind-Boggling Rule For 'Real Men'

Fox News host Jesse Watters, who is apparently an authority of what it means to be a manly man, gave jazz hands to make a point about how "real men" should or shouldn't wave.

The target of his ridicule was Tim Walz, the enthusiastic Democratic Minnesota governor and vice presidential candidate who often greets the public by raising both hands in the air to wave.

GOP Rep. Goes Viral For His Response To Crowd Chanting 'Tax The Rich' At Town Hall

Nebraska Republican Representative Mike Flood was criticized following his incredulous response to a crowd that chanted "Tax the rich!" during a town hall meeting.

The Columbus High School auditorium hosted the town hall on Tuesday evening, drawing "nearly 380" attendees, according to local network KETV Omaha. The event was lively, with Flood facing both sharp criticism over Trump administration policies and some appreciation for showing up in person.

Awkward Typo In Elon Musk's Bizarre 'Education Department' Trump Meme Is A Total Self-Own

Billionaire Elon Musk was widely mocked after he celebrated President Donald Trump's executive order to begin to dismantle the Department of Education (DOE) by posting a meme of Trump at the department's grave, only for an awkward misspelling to get all the attention.

Polling indicates that eliminating the Education Department is largely unpopular, with 60% of registered voters opposing the move, according to a Quinnipiac University survey conducted March 6-10. Support stands at 33%, with opposition particularly strong among Democrats—98% oppose it, while just 1% support it.

Dem Governor Reveals Trump's Bonkers Demand In Exchange For Equipment During COVID

Illinois Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker revealed during a speech this week that he clashed with President Donald Trump during the first Trump administration after Trump promised necessary medical equipment during the COVID pandemic on the condition that Pritzker praise him publicly.

Five years ago, the United States was grappling with the initial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country had entered shutdowns that had severe economic consequences, leaving businesses and industries on the brink of collapse.

People Break Down How They Realized An Entire Industry Was A Total Scam

We unfortunately live in a world where scams are on the rise.

Thankfully, some of them are pretty easy to detect, such as an automated call from the IRS telling you a warrant is out for your arrest, or an email claiming to be from Amazon or the USPS asking for your credit card information, only to look closer and see the email address is a yahoo account.
