Elon Musk declared he was doing his part in helping to increase the world's population in a snarky tweet responding to news of him having twins.

The co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI is an outspoken proponent of increasing the global population.

In May, he tweeted that the U.S. birth rate has been "below min sustainable levels for ~50 years."

According to an Insider report, Musk and a 36-year-old top executive at Neuralink, Shivon Ziis, had twins back in November.

A court document obtained by the media outlet indicated the pair had filed a petition requesting for their infant children to "have their father's last name and contain their mother's last name as part of their middle name."

The request was reportedly granted early this year.

The birth of the twins preceded the birth of the second child Musk had with musician Grimes in December via surrogate–a daughter who they named, Dark Sideræl Musk.

On Thursday morning following Insider's report relating to the twins of Musk and Ziis, the Tesla CEO responded by tweeting:

"Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis."

He also claimed in his tweet that "A collapsing birth rate is the biggest civilization faces by far."

Many on Twitter were less inclined to feel congratulatory.

Musk has fathered 10 children and doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon given his concern for declining birth rates.

The business mogul and his ex-wife Justine Wilson had six children, which include twins Griffin and Vivian–who were born in 2004–and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian–who arrived in 2006.

The couple's firstborn died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks old, according to an article Wilson wrote in Marie Claire.

One of the twins recently filed documents with the Los Angeles County court to legally declare her new gender identity and change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson.

She cited that she "no longer live[s] with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."

Her request was granted.

Musk now has two children with Grimes, with the eldest named, X AE A-XII, who was born in May 2020; and Dark Sideræl Musk, who was born in December via surrogate.

The 51-year-old told Page Six that he plans to have "As many [kids] as I am able to spend time with and be a good father.”

He added:

“My eldest are off to college, and teenagers don’t want to spend much time with their parents. I wish they would (sigh).”

The names of the newborns he had with Ziis are not yet known.
