Author Dr. Emily Rath refused to give a free pass to a fan who supports Republican President Donald Trump and claimed in a comment that "not all of us are horrible."
Rath, a full-time author who loves international politics, shared a now-viral video in which she gave a fiery response to a TikToker named "Jordyn" who wrote, "As a Trump supporter, I love your books. Not all of us are horrible.".
"No. Jordyn, to you I say, unequivocally, no," she said, explaining this was non-negotiable.
She told Jordyn that if they thought her page was some sort of "safe space" for people to enjoy her work regardless of political opinion, that was not the case here.
"It's 2025, and all that f'ks that I've had are gone," she said. "I have no f'ks left to give to you, Jordyn."
"This is not a safe space for you. My platform is not a safe space for you to come and feel validated in openly supporting the democratic breakdown of our state and the rise of an authoritarian dictator."
Rath described the type of dictator Trump has presented himself to be, "a homophobic, racist, misogynist, narcissistic piece of sh*t, a**hole."
Here is the viral TikTok video.
@emilyrathbooks Replying to @Jordyn Miss me with this energy, please and thank you. I will not coddle, placate, or otherwise excuse your decision to support a dictator. You’re actively participating in making my world and the world of my child less democratic, less tolerant, and less safe. To me, that is horrible #emilyrath #emilyrathbooks #jacksonvillerays #hockeyromance #sportsromance #hockeyromancebooks #sportsromancebooks #whychoose #whychoosebooks #author
Rath is a New York Times and internationally bestselling author known for her sex-positive, queer-inclusive fantasy and romance novels, like the Second Sons Regency romances, the Tuonella Duet fantasy novels, and the Jacksonville Rays Hockey Romances.
Which is why she was flummoxed as to how Jordyn could be a fan of her books since every single one of her characters across the canon of her work is anti-Trump.
"They are as anti-Trump as me. Do you know why? because I f'king wrote them, Jordyn," she said and doubled down against welcoming the MAGA fan to her safe space.
"You cannot come here and just accept your violence."
"I do not accept it. I reject it, Jordan. Just like every character in my book would stand behind me and reject it with me."
She gained new fans and gained the respect of others who may not be into her genre of writing.
She pointed out to Jordyn the various demographics whose lives are now under attack from Trump's harmful policies.
"You can sit here and feel like you're not a 'horrible person,' " said Rath, and continued:
"But as I look around…I see that as every person who identifies as a woman, every person of color, every queer person, every veteran, every disabled person in this country, now feels less safe."
"We are objectively less safe than we were four months ago."

"That's f'king horrible to me," she stressed, letting other followers know where she stands.
"I think it's reprehensible to support this person," she said of the convicted felon and first impeached President to return to the White House.
Holding on to a shred of optimism for her alleged fan, Rath said she hoped Jordyn learns something by reading her books and opens their eyes to see that "everyone is less safe now."
"I hope that for you. I'm not holding my breath," she said, adding a final message for Jordyn.
"This isn't a safe space for you. Everywhere else is less safe. This doesn't get to be safe either. Not for you."
