Don Jr. Dragged After Saying Biden Isn't Even 'Capable' Of Debating Barron, Let Alone President Trump

With the 2020 election mere months away, debates between President Donald Trump and presumed 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden are set to start at the end of September.

While Biden expressed eagerness to debate Trump, several of the President's allies are ridiculing Biden's hypothetical performance, repeating claims that the former Vice President isn't mentally fit to match Trump in a war of words and policy.

The President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., continued that level of discourse on Twitter.

Junior joked that Biden isn't even capable of debating the President's youngest son, Barron Trump.

Trolling comments like these are par for the course in Don Jr.'s Twitter feed, and this one normally would've gone unnoticed were it not for an event that occurred during the House Judiciary Committee's hearings on the impeachment of the President.

Stanford Law Professor Pamela Karlan appeared before the committee to testify that impeachment was warranted because the President is not a king.

Notably, Karlan said:

"I'll just give you one example that shows you the difference between him and a king, which is the Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he cannot make him a baron."

Though Karlan was doing little more than making a pun, Republicans seized on the invocation of the President's youngest child.

Before Karlan's testimony was over, First Lady Melania Trump posted a tweet telling Karlan she should be ashamed.

Donald Trump Jr. himself even took umbrage at the invocation of Barron's name.

Trump's supporters soon followed suit, referring to Karlan as "sick" and unworthy of testifying.

With that context, people found Don Jr.'s tweet flippantly mentioning Barron as hypocritical at best.

People also aren't sold on Junior's assertion that Biden can't best Trump in a debate.

Days after Republicans took umbrage at Karlan's invocation of Barron, Trump mocked climate activist Greta Thunberg—a 15 year old—on Twitter after she won TIME's Person of the Year.
